I started this course a few years ago intending to complete it within a year.

My wife was diagnosed with breast cancer and had to undertake a major operation to save her life.

With all the concern I did not continue with the course.

I attempted to continue about a year later once my wife had finished all her chemo and appointments at Hospital , I had a lot of tome off work that year.

I continued with the course

Sadly we discovered a year or so later that the cancer had spread to her bones , and she had to have more chemo so I stopped the course again.

After the treatment had finished I attempted to continue and found myself having to stop again due to the fact that my wife was rushed into Hospital with fluid in her lungs and heart. An operation was performed and she came home. Them some months later she went into a hospice for a rest and then had to go back to hospital because the fluid in the lungs had come back.

During this time the last thing I was thinking about was the course you understand.

She had another operation and went home.

After many trips up and down to hospital she went back to the hospice after what turned out to be her last holiday with myself and our 2 daughters she got very ill.

Sadly my wife died of cancer at the Hospice at the age of 41 just 5 days away from her 42 nd birthday.

During a few of our visits to the hospice my wife told me off for not continuing with the course saying I had wasted £1300 , and that the course organisers would not be willing to let me continue and in her words " you have blown it you idiot "

I told her that I believed I would be able to continue , and with great thanks to skills train you have allowed me to start from the beginning for which I am very grateful.

I owe it to my wife to complete this course and pass and pass well, as I can not let myself blow it.

I also have a duty to my daughters to make their Mother proud of me for picking this up after all that has happened.

I can not thank skills train enough for this opportunity .

I work as ICT Technician for Greenwich Council and my wife wanted to donate computer equipment to the hospice who looked after her , and also get the staff and patients some ICT training from my work place.

I am very happy to say she got her wish, as I was able to arrange for some of our teachers to supply this to the hospice.

I also personally installed one computer and gave internet access , and a colour printer for staff and patients to use.

My wife was showing staff and patients how to use it, and also ordering our shopping online days before she died .

I also supplied 2 printers and another computer to the hospice as this is what my wife wanted.

My wife studied and gain an honours degree in Community Art and Design at Greenwich University just weeks before she died .

This is what now drives me to complete this course and pass and pass well, I do this in her memory.

She passed suffering from Cancer , I must pass my course.

Once again my deepest thanks to skills train for giving me this chance once again.

Greenwich university did the same for my wife during her illness , I am also very grateful to them.

I am very happy to have commenced this course. At 40 I have been in the Electrical/Electronics Industry for 20 years but work wasn't always available and decided to take a change of direction in my career.
I find the course fascinating when relating to my everyday use of my pc and how things work.I would recommend it to anyone who was looking for a change in a mundane dead-end job.Thank you skillstrain for opening my eyes

I think my Tutor marked assignments have been very good, since I have started doing the A+ course. I have now completed part A and B of Essentials and Enterprise technician and waiting to do the two exams. I am currently doing N+ part B; I have already completed part A. Once I have worked through the tutor marked assignments for N+ I will then attempt the exam. Then I can start the CCNA part of the course, which for me this main and most important part. Before taking on this course, I had very good understanding about computer. However with good progression I have learnt a great deal about the core of computing and networking. My knowledge and understanding of computer is better now, I feel confident enough to teach other about computers.

Whilst doing the A+ course I have been building my own personal computer at home. I have also become a family technician. I helped my friend build his own computer from scratch and help family members' set-up home networking and wireless connection. Friends and family call me for advice about computers and any problems they come across. Using the A+ knowledge I have also managed to maintain computer to good working standard. I am only three exams away from completing two thirds of the course. I will hopefully start looking for new jobs related to A+ and N+.

I have been working a 50 hour week in a busy IT department in Stockport, Manchester as well as working 20 hours a weekend in a bar doing pub work to fund my course. Despite all of the working hours I have still managed in the last month to have submitted 6 TMA's with none scoring less than 90%.

After being diagnosed with cancer l thought that was the end of everything including my capability of studying. The only thing that keeps me going even if l suffer a lot from chemotherapy side effects is my College Course as it is the only thing that gives me a reason to want to live even more. This month l have passed with an average of 92%.

I have faced some serious problems in last two months and my studies were totally freezed due to the reason that I went to Pakistan because my mother got serious arm fracture.I was not in a position to leave as I already lost my job. I was in financial crises as well and at some stage I thought I wont be able to continue my studies. But thanks to Skills Train College and CDF who supported me alot and encouraged me to continue my course. After a long break of about two months I again started sending my TMAs and now I have covered all that time which was lost and managed to complete three assignments in 10 days.I am enjoying these studies now and will encourage my friends to join Skills Train because of there dedication and support I have got.

Since successfully completing my A+ Certification, I have been selected for the role of Head Technician and manager of the PC Clinic orientation, in PC World.

I was offered this role over colleagues that have been employed in the technician role and have been with the company for many years before myself, however, this achievement was made possible due to the understanding of computer maintenance and repair that I have gained from carrying out courses via Skills Train and my determination to succeed.

I have been on the CCNA course for over a year now and I will say though it's not been very easy combining studying with raising a family and working as well, I have enjoyed the training as it is self paced and so doesn't put me under so much pressure to finish each module.

I have been able to learn a great deal since I started the training and I have also been able to use the knowledge gained in getting job as a service desk analyst in the public sector. I am pleased with this and I am confident that by the time I finish the whole course I'll be well equipped to for my next role.

I think the biggest achievement I have made this year is to specify and then build my own "top of the range PC". It must work ok because I am typing this on it now. Specifying the parts did take me longer than expected but I got there in the end, even after having to RMA a faulty motherboard. Another achievement has been repairing my son's computer that he needs for university by replacing the PSU. I wouldn't have dreamed of undertaking that before I started this course, so thanks, I am learning and looking forward to a career change from manufacturing to the IT industry

Since I start studying CCNA course from skill train, my personal development is moving up. I had a nice job in British Telecom. And also I recently was promoted as a Broadband ENGINEER. So, I hope the SkillsTrain will take me to higher and higher like an Aircraft. Thanks for that.

In my time doing this course and even though I'm not very far through my course I have been able to understand some problems on computers and resolved most of them I have upgraded a couple of computers for friends and family, before starting this course the only thing I knew about computers was how to turn it on, now I can describe quite naturally what's happening when the computer is booting. also on top of this all my marks are top with a min of 90% marks and alot at 100% and for me that's alot I was never really the best for studying but I find this course so fascinating I'm very much into computers now and I'm reading my course work constantly.
